Everybody's talking about the 2009 Hollywood Music in Media Awards. Heather Haze, nominated for best rock with her song, "Buddha Baby," shined on the red carpet along with other celebrities from music, film, and television. The following video from WTV Online sums up the event, with Heather appearing about 40 seconds in, giving an interview on the red carpet.
Below is a television spot for the 2009 Hollywood Music in Media Awards. Heather will be walking the red carpet as a nominee with her new song "Buddha Baby" (available on iTunes).
"Very well produced and recorded, and great musicianship. Your vocal is clear as a bell and earthily distinctive." "...I know good music in every genre, when I hear it. Again with appreciation to the recording engineers and mixers. Your CD will not have to be remastered for 100 years. I'd swear I was in the studio that day." "Not only are the songs great, but the instrumentals are exceptional and really show the tremendous talent of the artist."
"Come on Buddha Baby let me be your Bodhi tree!" Heather's off-the-wall rocker, "Buddha Baby," has been nominated for this year's Hollywood Music in Media Awards. The annual red-carpet gala celebrates not only music in media such as film, television, and games, but the efforts of independent and mainstream musical artists from around the world. The awards show will take place at The Highlands in the legendary Hollywood & Highlands / Kodak Theater complex in Hollywood on November 19th. The nomination comes at a propitious time for Heather, having just released her first major album, Groovit Yourself. Buddha Baby is the third track on the album. The news came as a surprise to Heather, who is nonetheless grateful for the nomination. "It's really an honor," she stated, "I have a lot of respect for the HMMA. I think it's a wonderful event, and a great opportunity. I'm thrilled to be involved." Hollywood Music in Media Awards
It's almost surreal. Heather's first major album is finished and on its way to top online music services, including iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, and many others. The physical CDs will soon follow, available both online and off. On the album, Heather's grooviest new tracks lead the way, such as New Funk in Town, Give Me a Bite, and Buddha Baby, followed by a few familiar fan favorites, including Martian Soup, Catch 22, and the inimitable Woobie Man (featuring Jayson Moreno). A little quirky, a little naughty, a little funky, a little Zen, Groovit Yourself will drive you crazy in all the right ways, and keep you coming back for more. Stay tuned for availability and ordering info!
In 2006, my good friend and bass player, Al, died beside me while performing on-stage in Sarasota, Florida. I became inspired to put words to some instrumental music I'd been composing. The first verse came easily: "Dear Al, it's only me. It's been a while since I saw you. Can you tell me, are you free? Did you find your way home?" After I posed the question, however, I found I had no answer. No matter how I tried, I just did not have the words to finish the song. That is, until now. The recent passing of several notable celebrities seemed to cause a wave of sadness, and a profound sense of loss, for many people. In the last several years, my travels have taken me from coast to coast and back again. I've said many goodbyes in that time, and learned a great deal about life. I hoped to use what I had learned to help others deal with their own losses. After offering a few inspired comments to friends, I realized I'd actually inspired myself. I suddenly knew how to finish the song I'd started nearly three years earlier. I hope you enjoy it. (Coming soon on "Groovit Yourself"!) ~ Heather Haze
On November 20th, Heather attended the first annual Hollywood Music Awards, a red-carpet event celebrating music in visual mediums. The elite of Hollywood's music scene rubbed elbows with independent artists, industry pros, and up-and-coming talent. The awards presentations were punctuated by incredible live performances by some of the top talent in a variety of genres. Although not nominated this year, Heather found the event inspiring and looks forward to the next show.
Yet another slamtastic Comedy Slam House Party! The dinner crowd never knew what hit them, as Heather jumped off the stage and jammed her way through a short set of funk, soul, and jazz. She raised the energy through the roof and primed the audience for a hilarious night of top-shelf comedy from some of LA's hottest performers, including a headline performance from Chris "Kid" Reid.
Not only did Heather tear the roof off Keegan's, jamming out tunes like Pick Up the Pieces and Mister Magic, she also got to open for some tremendous comedy talent, including the unbelievable Mike Marino (as seen on HBO, Comedy Central, and Showtime), Chris "Kid" Reid (best known as the dude with the funky hair in those 80's House Party movies), Smokey Deese, Jill Anenberg, and the night's MC, Skillz. It was an outrageous evening of music and comedy! You do NOT want to miss the next show on the House Party Comedy Slam tour!!
You never know what's gonna happen in Hollywood! Tuesday, Heather performed with Cheech and Chong, and a cardboard cut-out of Obama, for an upcoming Obama commercial on YouTube. According to Tommy Chong, the video will also involve graffiti of some kind. Be afraid. http://www.cheechandchong.com
"World Class Alto Saxophonist and Vocalist Heather Haze. Mind you, I am not joking. This musician is unreal. You have to hear her play to believe what she can do. Mind boggling talent." ~ Robert Heft Blues Band |
